Best Picture 2015- Winner

Kingsman:  The Secret Service

Justice League:  Throne of Atlantis

Unfriended

Trainwreck

Straight Outta Compton

Secret In Their Eyes

The Hateful Eight

Star Wars:  The Force Awakens

Creed

Ant-Man

Spy

Avengers:  Age of Ultron

The Gift

It was a Star Wars kind of year wasn't it?  Aside from being a runaway crazy train at the box office, the newly-bought Disney franchise went a long way in washing the bad taste out of our mouths from the prequel trilogy.  Yes, I know the common complaints about it being too much of a rehash of A New Hope.  In some respects, I understand the criticism.  But, you can't deny the impact The Force Awakens had.  It reinvigorated a franchise that disillusioned so many in recent years.  It brought the magic back.  It's the movie we needed.

Best Actor 2015-Winner

Michael B. Jordan

Ian McKellen

Leonardo DiCaprio

Matt Damon

Samuel L. Jackson (Major Marquis Warren-The Hateful Eight)

Paul Rudd

O'Shea Jackson, Jr

To borrow and modify a phrase from Matt Damon in The Martian, Samuel L. Jackson "Sam Jacksoned the s--t out of this."  Think about that.  You know what I mean.  That pleasant-bordering-on sinister smile.  The calm demeanor until the inevitable Sam Jackson explosion.  It's all there.  It's all good.

Best Actress 2015- Winner

Gwyneth Paltrow

Katherine Heigl

Melissa McCarthy (Susan Cooper-Spy)

Amy Schumer

Jennifer Lawrence

McCarthy has had some hits and misses since her career-making turn in Bridesmaids.  Chalk Spy up in the hit column as she was spot on as a grossly underestimated CIA Analyst forced into the field.  Spy was filled with several wonderful comedic performances, but, they all ping ponged off McCarthy.  That's why she gets the award.

Best Supporting Actor 2015- Winner

Paul Bettany

Nicholas Hoult

Jason Statham

Jude Law

Sylvester Stallone

Tom Hardy

Benicio Del Toro

Walton Goggins

Joel Edgerton (Gordo- The Gift)

You know what the truly terrifying thing is about Edgerton's character?  He never has a psychotic break.  He never "wigs out" so to speak.  You're never quite sure what his game is until it's done.  Cold, calculating and smarter than anyone gives him credit for being.  Subtle villainy at its finest.

Best Supporting Actress 2015- Winner

And the winner is...

Miranda Hart

Jennifer Jason Leigh (Daisy Domergue-The Hateful Eight)

Evangeline Lilly

Yep, ol' Daisy Domergue is the winner.  While the other nominees were good, there really wasn't much doubt here.  A horrible person who meets a fitting end, Leigh will crack you up at times despite her wretchedness.
